Calf Nap

I took the reference photo for this painting on Smith Road just outside of Oakdale, CA. The grass was high and I’m sure it felt cool to this little calf, trying to get in an afternoon nap. He appears to be a little upset that I was disturbing his snooze, but I didn’t stay long. This oil painting is on primed hard board and varnished with Windsor and Newton varnish (1/2 Matte and 1/2 Gloss). I believe it is still available for sale at “Ranch Revived” in Groveland, CA.
