Out Of The Shadows

This painting was done as a study for a larger (60”x30”) painting that I did for a friend. The image was drawn from several bear portraits I found online. I was actually in a furniture store and saw a simple painting of a parrot in black on white, which gave me the idea to do this painting in monochrome. The stern look of the bear seemed to suggest that white on black would give a more appropriate atmosphere to the painting.
